Home Builders Association of Jackson members should take notice of 12 special companies that have committed to being Foundation Sponsor Members for 2020. They have many things in common: the understanding of marketing their companies, involvement and active participation in their industry, successful attitudes and strong company support for the home building industry, among many others. It’s not a surprise that these companies have been supporters of HBAJ not just this year but for many years.
84 Lumber first became a Foundation Sponsor in 2017 and has shared many testimonials describing an increase in home builder business since their commitment began. Blake Hoerman has attended many board meetings. Chris Olmstead, Robbie Lamm and Lee Davis regularly attend events held by the Association. Landry Holloway attended the first annual fishing summit held at Woodland Plantation in Louisiana and he not only brought back business and fished with customers, but also brought back a huge cooler full of fish!
AmFed partners with the Association providing insurance coverage solutions for our members. AmFed is the endorsed provider of Workers’ Compensation for the Home Builders Association of Mississippi. Members include Sarah Freeman, Greg McLemore, Mike Richardson and James Swanner. James Swanner was the recipient of the 2016 HBAJ Associate Member of the Year.
Atmos Energy is a huge supporter of the Parade of Homes and encourages their many members to be involved in committees and to attend HBAJ events. In 2019 Atmos Energy became sponsor for the Remodelers Committee meetings. Atmos brings many talented employees as members including John Duease, Neal Mashburn, Chip Shotts, Willie Alexander and Mildred Nelson. They build solid relationships with our members.
BancorpSouth has given HBAJ several active members as well as financial contributions for many years. Allison lmpastato serves on the Board of Directors and keeps a watchful eye to make sure Associate members are represented within the Association. Andy Barksdale has served on many committees and actively attend events throughout the year.
BankPlus brings construction, commercial and mortgage lending expertise to the Association. Wilson Eatherly has served on the Board of Directors multiple times in his tenure with BankPlus. Gabe Baldwin has been a key note speaker at multiple seminars for HBAJ. BankPlus has been a sponsor for HBAJ’s Builder Event held at The Home Show. Jerome Curro attends many events throughout the year. Other members include Paul Howell.
Community Bank came on board with their Foundation Sponsorship in 2017 and has continued their commitment this year. Bill Bethany serves on the Board of Directors and in 2017 was awarded the “Rising Star” award for his involvement on multiple committees. Kevin Langford attends events throughout the year, including golf tournaments, themed events and HBAJ’s After Hours. Bill Bethany also received the 2019 HBAJ Associate Member of the Year.
In 1952, Cowboy Maloney’s was born as a lumber yard selling built-in appliances for new homes. They quickly evolved to a full line appliance dealer and from there became a TV dealer when the first television station came on line in Mississippi. Old South Brick and Tile begins with the patriarch, Jerry Crosby, President and Owner since 1982. Jerry has been a member of HBAJ since the 1970’s. Jerry has encouraged his employees/family to be involved in the Association, including Terry Williams, Chris Harless, Mickey Parker, Jay McNamee, Michael Harkins, and Spence Tribble, who handle sales and customer service for Old South. All of the Old South team have been very active in the Association, including Jerry Crosby, by exhibiting at The Home Show, advertising in Parade of Homes magazines and attending events throughout the year. Jerry Crosby was the recipient of the 2013 HBAJ Associate Member of the Year.
ProSource Wholesale was instrumental in bringing back HBAJ’s Key Connections event to our members. This event is a great opportunity to provide associates a one-on-one meeting with builders. ProSource also partnered with HBAJ in 2018 to start our Remodeler Committee and continues to sponsor the meetings. ProSource members of HBAJ include Mike Gray and Leigh Ann Post. Kim Cole has also served as chairperson of the Home Show for many years. Kim Cole was the recipient of the 2017 HBAJ Associate Member of the Year.
Trustmark – Marvin Freeman, Kevin Kinkade, Jeannie Barrier, Breck Tyler, Jon Tucker, Tony Coleman, Kevin Stringer as well as other principal members including Monica Day, have supported the Association with their volunteerism as well as financial commitments. The Association would not be the same without the support of Trustmark. Kevin Kinkade was the recipient of the 2011 HBAJ Associate Member of the Year and Marvin Freeman was the recipient of the 2018 HBAJ Associate Member of the Year.
